NSA x Toastmasters Speechcraft Partnership
I used to attend Toastmasters workshops pretty often. For those who don’t know, it’s a space where people practice public speaking, communication, and leadership. Super structured, but honestly, really helpful — especially for people like us who didn’t grow up being taught to speak up in front of a room.
So while we were running all these mixers and panels at NSA Boston, I kept thinking:
What if we brought something like this to our own community?
A place for Nepali students and professionals to practice speaking, build confidence, and level up. Because let’s be real — communication is everything out here.
Around that time, a non-Nepali friend mentioned that his dad was a Toastmasters president for a local club here in Massachusetts. We got introduced, and soon, we were bouncing ideas around.
That’s when I learned about Toastmasters Speechcraft — a condensed version of their full club program. Think of it as a public speaking bootcamp: four sessions, two hours each, designed to kickstart growth.
After several planning meetings with the Toastmasters regional director and our designated facilitator, we were able to lock it in.
We ran a 4-week Speechcraft program through NSA Boston. Five people joined, and four proudly completed it.
And that’s how the NSA x Toastmasters Speechcraft Partnership was born.
The long-term vision? Launch a full Toastmasters club specifically designed for our Nepali community.
But just like with our current student panels, our resources were limited, and we had to table the idea — for now.
Still, I believe this was one of the most high-impact pilot programs we’ve done. And when the time’s right, we’ll be back with a full version.
