The Vision Behind Women’s Cocktail Night
After hosting a few mixers, March was right around the corner — and with a team at NSA Boston made up of mostly women, a new idea popped up during one of our meetings:
“Let’s host a mixer specifically for Nepali women in Boston.”
I was instantly on board.
As we started looking into it, something became very clear: nothing like this had been done before. At least not at this level — something premium, thoughtfully curated, and empowering — just for Nepali women in Boston.
So we said: if we’re going to do this, let’s go all out. Let’s make this not just an event, but a moment.
Oshina Bharati (huge shoutout to her) pitched a bunch of ideas and helped bring this vision to life.
The concept:
Rooftop venue in downtown Boston
Sunset vibes
Cocktail attire — everyone dressed sharp
Nepali food, champagne, a charcuterie board
Professional photography
Flowers, decor, music — everything high-end and curated
This wasn’t just a meetup. This was a celebration — of women, of progress, of presence. A space for Nepali women — students, working professionals, entrepreneurs — to connect, feel seen, and feel elevated.
We partnered with Makalu Boston, Zomsa Restaurant & Bar, Petals & Platter, Newchi TV, and DJ Mukund to make it happen.
The result?
Nearly 60 Nepali women showed up, from students to seasoned professionals. The vibe was electric.
Here’s what a few attendees said:
Deepa Shakya, Advisor – Social Impact & Private Sector Development:
“The event feels so great. Meeting women of all ages, and getting this young energy from the next generation — I’d say it’s fantastic.”
Srijana Chapagain, Applications Engineer:
“It was nice to see women doing great things — definitely a great event.”
Honestly, this was more than just an event.
It was a milestone — and one of the proudest moments in NSA Boston history so far.
But… not everything went according to plan.
