Inspiration For #NSAWednesdays

When we launched NSA Boston, we started slow.
One event here, one panel there. The idea was just to connect Nepali students and professionals once in a while.

But after every event, we noticed the same thing:
People didn’t want to leave.
They stayed after the event was over, exchanging contacts, chatting in corners, starting new friendships.

That’s when we realized — people didn’t just want events.
They wanted community. And more importantly, they wanted consistency.

The Turning Point

A few months ago, I visited Venture Café Cambridge.
It’s a weekly event where entrepreneurs meet every Thursday. I asked one of their senior advisors how they built such a strong community.

His answer?

“We just showed up. Every Thursday. For 15 years.”

That stuck with me.

We were thinking of doing monthly events.
But after hearing that, I asked myself — why not weekly?

What Happened Next

We decided to slowly ramp up.
From 1 event a month → to 2 → to 3 → and eventually 4 a month.

It wasn’t always easy — venue hunting, coordination, marketing. But the results were clear.

Why It Matters

Weekly mixers gave our community a rhythm.
A space to meet new people.
To find mentors, share ideas, or just have good convos mid-week.

We’re not just hosting events anymore.
We’re building a habit.
A ritual.
A community that shows up.

Every single week.

PS. Things have changed as we evolved. Read our other blogs to find out.
