The Current Student Panels That Never Happened

Right after we came up with the Alumni Panel Series, I had another idea brewing — Current Student Panels.

The concept was simple but powerful:
Bring together 2–3 Nepali students from different universities in Boston and host virtual panels for incoming students in Nepal. Let them ask questions directly — about school, housing, campus life, classes, food, culture shock — the stuff Google and brochures don’t tell you.

Why this mattered to me was personal.
Before coming to the U.S., I had no idea what to expect. I didn’t know what student life looked like here, what the classroom vibe was, or even how to manage money in a new country. I figured it out on the go — but I always wondered: What if someone had been there to walk me through it all before I left Nepal?

Later, I worked as an International Peer Advisor at Bentley, and my sister did too. We both saw dozens of incoming students reach out, especially Nepalis, just looking for real answers. It became clear — there was a gap. And I wanted NSA Boston to fill it.

But… it didn’t happen.

After seeing the logistical challenges with the Alumni Panels — and knowing our resources were already stretched — we made the tough call to hold off. Our energy had to go into higher-impact, in-person initiatives like the networking events (more on that in a future post).

And I’ll be honest — this one left a sour taste.
Because I know how impactful it could’ve been.
It still could be.

So, if you’re reading this and thinking, “That sounds like something I’d want to lead,” — reach out. Maybe it’s time for someone else to pick up where I left off.
